Ayida Wédo's Vévé

Long ago, the serpent spirit Damballah created the world, at the end when the sun showed through mist settling on the plants and trees, a rainbow was born. Her name was Ayida Wedo. Damballah loved her and made her his wife. They are still together today, the serpent and the rainbow. Like Damballah, Ayida represents creation and has endless knowledge. The divine serpents are also associated with wisdom, peace, innocence and purity.
What Ayida Can Do For You:
Ayida is the Loa of fertility and can be called upon for help conceiving a child. She provides clarity to life problems and promotes peaceful, euphoric feelings. Ayida also functions as protector of the cosmos and giver of blessings.
Offerings:
Ayida will only accept white gifts, such as a white egg placed on top of a white mound of flour on a plate of white china. She enjoys coconut milk, white rice cooked in coconut milk, clear champagne (never hard alcohol), and white cake.
Decorate Your Altar:
Draw out Ayida’s vévé (symbol) and place it on top of her altar or hang above it. Place her offerings on top of a rainbow scarf or a white plate. Add snake figurines and white and rainbow decorations. A statue or image of The Virgin Mary can be used to represent Ayida.
