Marie Laveau's Vévé

More than anyone else, Marie Laveau put New Orleans Voodoo on the map with her powerful magic and infamous ceremonies in The French Quarter. She was known to dance during Voodoo rituals with her boa constrictor named Li Grande Zombi (symbolizing Damballah). She is a hairdresser who knows everyone’s deepest, darkest secrets. She is a strong, intelligent, wise woman, who is just as mysterious as she is powerful.
What Marie Can Do For You:
Marie Laveau specialized in love spells and can help with relationship issues. You should petition Marie when you’re in need of healing; in life she cared for the homeless and her spells helped cure people during the yellow fever epidemic. If you’re recently out of prison and need work, or are homeless and looking for a way to make a living, Marie Laveau is there to lead you in the right direction.
Offerings:
Marie Laveau loves traditional creole foods like red beans and rice, jambalaya, gumbo and étouffée. As a hairdresser, she would like tools used for doing hair, such as combs, brushes, scissors, etc. Marie also loves blue and white flowers.
Decorate Your Altar:
Marie Laveau would like her altar decorated with blue and white flowers, Gris-gris bags, and hairdressing tools. She would also love a handmade voodoo doll. Marie Laveau can be represented by a snake figurine. Draw out her vévé (symbol) and place it on top of or above her altar.
Day of Worship: June 23 - Saint John's Eve, the foremost Voodoo holiday in New Orleans.
